Trustees of Mosque required to cease using site as a mosque

On the 21st May 2013, Newham Council was granted an injunction requiring the trustees of the Abbey Mills mosque to “to demolish property after they failed to comply with a planning obligation”. That is effectively to cease using the site as a mosque and remove the temporary buildings on site, following repeated failures to comply with planning control.

The planning appeal will be held middle of 2014 but the deadline for all comments is 27th December 2013.

December Council Meeting refuses Planning Application

The planning committee of Newham Council endorsed planning officers recommendations and refused the current planning application for the mosque on Wednesday 5th December.

Application to be considered by the Council's Strategic Development Committee on Wednesday 5th December 2012 at 7.00pm in the Old Town Hall, 29 The Broadway, Stratford, E15 4BQ.

Newham Council takes legal action to end use of temporary buildings as mosque

The Newham Recorder reports that Newham Council has applied to the High Court to stop the trustees from using the buildings on site as a temporary mosque.

Alan Craig comments: "This is good news and a good development. However it doesn't change the current mosque planning application which remains active. We need to keep up the pressure on the Council to reject it. The battle to stop the mega-mosque continues unabated."
